Mastering Risk Adjustment

Presenters at this session will discuss types of quality and outcomes measures; types of risk adjustment methodologies; benefits and limitations of risk adjustment methodologies; specific components of risk adjustment; documentation and coding impact on risk adjustment accuracy; and strategies to improve accurate risk adjustment capture.

Learner Outcomes

Attendees of this session will learn:

• The various risk adjustment models used in public quality report card and pay-for-performance measures, including which types of measures require risk adjustment.
• The benefits and limitations of the different models, including specific elements and methodologies — such as types of diagnoses and procedures that impact expected outcomes, including new pushes to use social determinants of health.
• How documentation and coding can impact risk adjustment accuracy, including discussion of specific strategies to improve awareness, accuracy, and measurement of risk adjustment outcomes.
