How Centralization and a Strong Vendor Partnership Helped BJC HealthCare Achieve ROI Excellence

Presented by: Ciox

This session will share a real-life account of how one healthcare system consisting of 13 hospitals developed a centralized HIM model and process. The restructure and centralization made the HIM department function-based, instead of facility-based and fit into its long-term strategic plan for organizational excellence.

Participants will discover that a centralized HIM department provides efficiencies and cost savings, including salaries, supply costs, and platform/system costs, real estate, etc. Not to mention not having to cross-train staff at other facilities.

We'll discuss how a centralized model improves productivity, efficiency, and workflows by having all resources together as one unit. The centralized structure also increased standardization across the system—leaving out the guesswork about “what is required”.

Last, we talk about the benefit of system-wide accessibility to patient information.
